Casa Amarilla is a stunning conversion
of a Spanish farm building set in a beautiful location on the eastern bank of the
River Guadiana in western Andalusia,
Spain.
Here Steve and Anne Mehlmann have created an eco friendly holiday centre
in peaceful and remote country where you can really get away from the
noise and hurry of busy working lives. We are exclusive and private ideal
for romantic getaways, family breaks and perfect for recharging your
batteries.
To get to us you have to drive down a
4 kilometre long
gravel track off the road
between the bustling border town of Ayamonte and
the tiny village of
Sanlucar de Guadiana.
This ensures your holiday will not be disturbed yet we are less than 1
½ hours
from Faro airport and only 2 hours from Seville so are
centrally
situated for discovering this undeveloped part of Spain; You can
also hone your sailing skills in the river; drive a 20 knot speedboat,
walk in the hills, play on the wonderful beaches of the Costa de la Luz
or simply stay put, chilling and enjoying the rare chance of some total peace
and quiet.
Artists, writers,
walkers, naturalists, birders, stargazers, nature lovers will find all they
want without straying too far whilst a trip to Sanlucar, about 20 minutes away, will
introduce you to a typical Spanish 'pueblo blanco' or white village.
Here you can enjoy a drink with the locals and
sample a variety of local tapas and meals.
The River Guadiana, on our western boundary, travels
for over 400 miles from central Spain just south of Madrid before crossing
into Portugal and then creating the last 40 miles of southern border between Portugal and
Spain. The river is navigable for about 40 miles from the Atlantic at Vila Real de
Santo Antonio north as far as Mertola and it provides us with some very special
cruising. If you would like to
know more about the river,
is a magnet for sailors of all types, both sail and power and you
can explore the river further on our 30 foot sloop
Straeker. Go
to our activities page to find out more
about Straeker , the sailing and our special introductory offer for 2007.
